Overview
Shawn Judge represents plaintiffs in complex civil litigation, class actions, and high-stakes disputes nationwide. His practice is centered on helping clients pursue fair outcomes through litigation, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution.
Throughout his career, Shawn has been appointed by courts to leadership positions, Special Master assignments, and other trusted roles in complex proceedings. He is also an experienced mediator who works with parties seeking efficient and practical resolutions outside the courtroom.
Before co-founding Troutman & Judge, LLC, Shawn served as Counsel at a national class action and mass tort firm representing plaintiffs across the country. Earlier in his career, he clerked for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the Supreme Court of Ohio, and Ohio’s Ninth District Court of Appeals.
Shawn has litigated cases in both federal and state courts across the United States, representing the State of Ohio, counties, municipalities, boards of elections, judges, and individual clients. His work has included serving as Special Counsel for the Ohio Attorney General in litigation against major pharmaceutical companies related to the opioid crisis. He has also represented plaintiffs in numerous class actions involving financial institutions and currently serves as co-lead counsel in litigation involving alleged underpayment of oil and gas royalties.
In addition to his litigation practice, Shawn is widely respected for his work as a court-appointed neutral and mediator. He is a member of the Academy of Court-Appointed Neutrals and has served in significant Special Master and commission leadership roles in federal court proceedings, including matters arising from one of the largest public corruption scandals in Ohio history.
Shawn also maintains an active role in legal education and professional development. He has taught as an adjunct professor at multiple Ohio law schools and frequently speaks on litigation and mediation topics. He previously served as an Ohio Bar Examiner and spent two decades as an editorial consultant to the Ohio Judicial Conference’s Ohio Jury Instructions Committee.
He earned his J.D. with honors from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and also holds an M.A. in English from Wright State University and a B.A. from The College of Wooster.
